Marine
Educator/Biologist

Jackie Hildering’s
photography is motivated by her deep love of Northern Vancouver Island
and wanting to foster this appreciation. She knows all to well how
exceptional this area is. The stunning biodiversity drew her back to
British Columbia seven years ago, ending her 14 years in the Netherlands
where she taught high school biology and served as administrator and
curriculum writer.
She wishes to share
what she is so privileged to see in her roles above and below our
waters. She is driven, above all, to further an understanding of our
“connectedness” through the marine ecosystem; how marine mammals
serve as indicators of human impacts upon the environment. Hence, her
photographs are accompanied by information relating to the identities
of, and threats to, her photographic “subjects”. Her dedication to
achieving marine education has taken her as far as Malaysia to present
at the Stop PCB Pollution symposium. This led to the signing of the
Penang Declaration for Elimination of PCBs from Asian Countries. http://www.stubbs-island.com/english/helping%20the%20whales/index.html
